AMD FX 8320 Overclocking

I have an AMD FX 8320 at 4Ghz on stock voltages with 20x multiplier on an ASRock Fatality 990 FX Killer Motherboard and Hyper 212 Cooler. My load temp is 68c. I want to OC it further. How far can I take it with my cooler ? How far in stock voltage itself ? Can I take to 4.4 Ghz ? If yes what voltage increase ? Also is increasing multiplier enough or change FSB but changing FSB caused me some trouble. And when increasing multiplier with all power savings off my maximum cpu speed while gaming in Task Manager is 3.96 Ghz and with power savings on I get only 3.92 Ghz. Why would is it not attaining complete 4 Ghz ? Also on keeping power savings settings off CPU speed would always be 3.96 itself regardless of what is running. But on keeping them on my CPU speed shuffles like usual at stock speeds. I want it to reduce and increase when required and is there any problem in keeping power savings settings on when Overclocking. I have a GTX 760 and 650 watts PSU. If your load temp is really 68'C then you should go back to stock settings. Your current cooling configuration is not working. The Hyper 212 is a half descent value cooler but it's not meant for cooling the 8 core FX when overclocked. You should also take a look at your case cooling.

At stock settings the load temps is 65-66c. But idle temp is 22c on both settings. My room temperature is quiet high so nothing to do. Also I don't think getting a water cooler for half the price of the CPU is worth it. Water coolers will be ideal for more costly CPUs than mine. I just wanted to know how much more mhz can I get on stock voltages ? Increasing voltage will add way more heat but increasing a few mhz multiplier won't do much.Tell me that and thanks for the reply.

The thermal paste was applied by some technician's in a famous computer shop. I bought the parts myself and they did assemble it for me since I was not having much experience in it eve though I know how to do it. I don't know my exact room temperature but outside temp is around 40c at noon time. My case is a Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus. The cables are tied near the HDD cage since my case doesn't have cable management and also I use a push-pull config on the cooler itself along with 1 intake fan near hdd and exhaust just at the top rear of my case near the heatsink. Before using push-pull config my CPU was around 70c. Thanks and please tell me the maximum limit on stock voltages along with anything that would help me.
 
I'm sorry. I won't hope you overclock until you get your temperatures under control.

As far as techs at famous computer shops...if they were that smart they would have properly stressed your system to recognize and address that you are already running over maximum temperature thresholds.

You need some air conditioning, and a better cooler if you plan on overclocking that CPU. Once you get temperature under control, the sky is the limit (well and VRM design).

What would be the safe load temp ? And also after two months when monsoon arrives temps will be a lot lower I think. Now we have summer. Since a 500 mhz oc caused only a 2c increase I think I will go to 4.2 Ghz. Will that be possible on stock voltages ? As increasing voltages add way more heat.
 


For the 8 core FX chips you want to stay under 62'C, and really lower is better, as when these chips heat up they become more and more unstable.You can see your thermal margin with the latest amd overdrive beta. In general these chips can take a lot of voltage abuse, but they do not like high temperature.

The 212 EVO is a low end budget cooler , if you really want to overclock you will need to step up the cooling solution.

For a cheap liquid you would need at least a dual radiator AIO, but even then if your ambient temperature is high it will be difficult to cool. A legit dual rad water loop would be very effective, but you are going to pay so much that it wouldn't be worth it. Thus, I recommend a high end air cooler. Something like the D14, TPC-812, the more fat heat pipes, the better. But really, are you going to spend that much to cool your CPU, but not afford air conditioning?

I have air conditioning but the room where my PC is between two rooms. Actually its like a corner and has quite good amount of space but no space for air conditioning. Will shift it into one of the rooms later.
