So, I won't be able to get my hands on alcohol to remove the thermal compound from my cpu. As I am buying a new cooler for it, I wan't to replace the current stock thermal paste.
This is basically a nail polish remover, but it does have acetone in it : http://www.flipkart.com/search?q=acetone&as=off&as-show=off&otracker=start
So will that acetone nail polish remover can be used to remove rhemal compund or should I try harder and just get acetone.

You can't go to a pharmacy and pick up a bottle of rubbing alcohol? I would think you could pick it up any department store that sells first aid products, also.

Use 70% rubbing alcohol, or if you are in a rut, use paper towel. Then, to apply, I would use a piece of brown paper, as it has the least amount of additives. You could even rip a piece of a brown paper bag.
