Hi,
I bought a new 2tb internal hdd and installed it in my system having 500gb HDD. When i try to "Initialize Disk" on disk management, i keep getting the error message "The semaphore timeout has expired". I tried both the MBR/GPT partition style but i keep getting that message. Please help.
Thanks

Solution
The message relates to the request sent from windows to format the drive.
The device should signal back to windows by the driver or interface used.
That the instruction or action has been performed.

In such a case if the drive shows in windows drive manager.
You must first use the options Action re scan for disks.
To update the virtual drive list.

Right click on the drive and format.

If the problem persists, then you should swap out the sata cable used.
Check the Sata standard of the drive is.
Make sure it is connected to the right standard of Sata ports.
Sata 2.0 or 3.0.

And make sure all sata drivers are installed in windows from the motherboard driver disk.
