So the specs for playing Watch Dogs on Ultra settings was just recently confirmed by Johnathan Morin. He says you'll need at least a GTX 780 and an i7 4770k. I'm in the process of choosing a new cpu and narrowed it down to the i5 4670k and the i7 4770k so this news is important to me. Maybe Watch Dogs is just a really CPU intensive game but it sounds like bad optimization to me. These Ultra requirements also came soon after the Nvidia Watch Dogs tech trailer which leads me to believe that this is just some marketing ploy by Nvidia to get more people to buy their high end hardware. What do you guys think/feel about this?

Solution
This game will come out and run fine on ultra settings with a GTX760 and a i5 3450. Just WATCH, DOGS.

Half of the people who buy the Crysis games simply buy them because they heard it was really demanding and want to see if their build can play it well. I think that is what Ubisoft is hoping will happen with this title upon release. They gotta bank it on something. They already had to delay the game because the missions were repetitive and boring and it would tank in sales if released.

Not just any 8 core cpu, you'll need at least FX 9370 according to the requirements if you want to run ultra. I don't mind buying the i7 4770k if this is where next gen games are headed but it does seem really demanding.

How can you be so sure? The 4 threads of the i5 vs the 8 threads of the i7 seems kind of a big deal for a cpu intensive game lol.

Bare in mind that when a developer is asked what are the Requirements for ultra for their game, 90% of the cases they have no idea.

The reason is there are way too many hardware combinations and usually the games require patching after they come out.

Giving the highest specs possible just ensures they are on the safe side, while also making their game look more demanding (insead of a weak port).

Also note that the game dev. dont say how many FPS you would be getting, and "playable" is a subjective term.
