So I am getting all the components for my first build and one of the things I did this morning was make a bootable usb drive with windows 7 on it. Now I understand that when my computer is finally together, I have to change the bios to boot from the drive. My question is, what happens after? After the OS is saved into the SSD, what do I do? Does the entire OS come with the iso image?
How long does it usually take to get everything in order before games can be downloaded and played?

Sorry for the newbie questions, first builders are trouble lol. Thanks for any future answers!

Solution
1. Install the OS, as You noted.

2. Make sure You have a working internet connection. This may require You to download some drivers on another PC and copy them over with a USB flash drive.

3. Activate Your OS, if it's a commercial one that requires such nonsense.

4. Update Your OS. This will be a loop of updating and rebooting, updating and rebooting on most commercial OSes. It takes about 5 minutes on FOSS OSes.

5. Install software and update that software. Reboot every hour or so if using Windows. Installing too much before rebooting can do "interesting" things to MS Windows.

6. Enjoy!

Yes, You will need to activate Windows, unless Your copy is a Volume Licensing Copy. You will probably type in the number on the OA sticker, then call them and enter a bunch of stuff on a phone. Then You type in the number they give You, and it will all be good.
