I recently went to pcpartpicker and pick a AMD FX-6300 with ASrock 970 xtreme3 r2.0, and it said: "Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs."
So will the cpu work fine with the mobo?

Yeah, it will work fine. Just make sure to update your BIOS for stability.

Do not update the Bios if there is nothing wrong with it as long as your system is doing fine and running smoothly no need to update the bios... chipset drivers yeah.. but bios.. leave it like that..

Uh... Please do update your BIOS, it really does add stability, as many motherboards technically do not support Vishera CPUs without an update, and even if it runs fine, the wrong program can screw things up.

if everything is working fine and stable with original BIOS i don't see a reason why risking that something might goes wrong during the BIOS flash and trash that nice motherboard...

It is incredibly hard to screw up now, they've made it a lot easier. Also, just because everything seems to be working fine does not mean it is stable.

it is always recommanded not to flash the BIOS on a motherboard unless there is something wrong with it...

According to whom? It used to be fairly difficult, and not recommended, but now it's as easy as putting a file on a flash drive and using the flashing utility in the BIOS.

Yes, but any power outage or power failure from the PSU or flash drive problem could lead to a wrecked motherboard that otherwise was functionning correctly, so unless there is instability or problems detected and the proofs are there that flashing the bios would solve the issue, i wouldn't recommand flashing a BIOS for no reason especialy to a novice user...
Flashing motherboard BIOS will always be a risky procedure and should be always performed only if necessary.

That's why you do it when you get it, instead of when you have a good chance of having issues later on, so you can RMA it if there is an issue, which is extremely unlikely.

99% of the time BIOS always are stable and fine and free of problems and they do not need to be updated...but i guess we both have our way of seing things on that subget, so it's alright at the end of the day the OP will have to decide himself if he decides or not to update his BIOS...
