Some help with my RAM!!

I installed 5gb ram, but my computer only detects 3.56.

My specs
Pentium 4 3.06 GHz
Nvidia Geforce GT 620 (2gb)
5gb ram ddr2 (3.56)
WD 500gb
Windows 8

I should also mention that I got one RAM module of 4gb from Crucial and the other of 1gb from Corsair. Could this the problem, I mean if I only let the RAM module from Crucial will my computer detect 4gb?

remove the 1gb ram module and see if the 4gb is detected properly! anyway i would stick with the 4gb.they must run on same specs(mhz,timings volts) and most probably you must manually set. (also there is a chance they will never work) anyway differences by adding 1gb would be minnimal so better have 4gb and add another 4gb later!

ok, well then it might be a problem with your computer saving a lot for bios and windows. go into bios and check out what is says about your ram. also, i would suggest a new computer cuz with your current one, you cant realy get much more performance out of it.
