I wanna upgrade my video card, but for a new card i cant go past a r9 270x(in terms of price). But someone is selling a used asus r9 280x near me for 250$, which is about $100 cheaper than new. Is it worth it? And how can I "Test" it before i buy to see its not broken, or near death

I personally never buy used cards just a personal thing I like the warranties and you never can fully tell if the card is good. but Furmark for a couple hours would be the best thing if it is about to die Furmark will kill it.

nope, never but a used video card. A 270X is a very capable card and you will be very happy with it.
