Hi
I have a Toshiba 512Gb used for Windows7 x64 OS. It has worked fine until now.
However, I have now changed the motherboard (ASRock X79 Extreme9) and CPU (Intel Xeon E5-4650) and everything is fine except for one major problem. Although the BIOS recognises CPU, memory and all other SATA drives, it does not see the SSD. I have tried all possible BIOS configurations, SATA slots and cables but the drive is still not visible.
I just can't think what else to do. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to resolve it?
Regards
Ian

Solution
Hi
Managed to get the BIOS to recognise the SSD after a great deal of reconfiguration and cable swapping.
As far as the OS is concerned I've had no problem with migration. Basically, I followed these steps:
1. I first converted all drivers to generic format.
2. I then used Acronis to create an image of the generic system.
3. After changing the hardware, I used Acronis Universal Restore to recover the generic system to the SSD.
4. Then finally installed all the new drivers.
It all worked a treat.

Hi
Thanks for replying, however, the SSD is working perfectly. The only thing that I've changed on the PC is the motherboard and the CPU. The drive and all other components have not been touched. I think it's something to do with the motherboard configuration?

If you switch the MB+CPU, you are better to reinstall the OS again, like you case it may not have right driver, and sometime it works fine without reinstallation, so you can update the chipset driver from intel website first https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx if it does not work you can try update the BIOS and please note if you don't do it right then you will get into a lot the trouble. But again you are better try to reinstall the OS.
