Thanks for your help, that looks like a solid build.
I'm just not sure the SSD is worth it with my tight budget. I see it more as something I can upgrade in the future, maybe I can put in a better GPU with that money.
Will this motherboard allow me to upgrade the CPU and GPU in the future?
For example to an r9 280x.
Do you have already have a copy of BF4? On
Newegg, there is a combo at 625$ which comes with Bf4 coupon. The pcpartpickerlist is
here.
Summary: This combo at Newegg is amazing. At 625$ You get most of your essentials, but with the essentials, it will cost $660. If you plan on overclocking it well, it will cost ~700$. It includes a 60 Fps or more on High Bf4 settings GPU, 8-core cpu with easy overclocking if need be, Dual Channel 8 GB memory, 1 TB HDD which you can utilize to be fast, cool and great case, and PSU that is amazing. For a budget computer, at $660, this newegg combo is great.
NOTE: Purchasing from the least amount of vendors means less shipping will decrease the price significantly.
It includes
CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 270 2GB Video Card ($191.01 @ Amazon)
Case: Raidmax Seiran (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Raidmax 530W Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Battlefield 4 Coupon
Total: $625.19 @Newegg Combos
GPU: You could upgrade to Radeon R9 290X in years to come, but this build comes with Radeon R9 270 which should be able to play BF4 at High Settings at 60 Fps.
CPU:Since many games are now starting to utilize quad-core and up due to the new consoles, for budget gaming computers, do not overspend on cpus making octa-core FX-8XXX a good buy especially at this price. For 20$ less you could buy the hecta-core FX-6300 which functions very similar to this unless utilizing all the cores.
Storage: Do not bother with SSD for they are expensive. Alternatives could be Hybrids or getting a 7200 Rpm HDD.
HDD!!!: Do not put your OS on your HDD first. First, you should boot OS from CD or USB, then partition the corner (fastest part of the HDD) to whatever size you want it (Lower the partition, faster it will go. Recommended 64GB for OS partition)
MotherBoard: This motherboard is not the best, but is capable of overclocking mildly to probably 4 Ghz. AM3+ motherboard sockets should last about 3 years which from then you could motherboard which should still be compatible with current setup.
Case: This may be an expensive case, but the combo deducts 124$ from 750$, the initial price. It has great airflow, cable managament, tons of storage device places, cpu heatsink space, water cooling capabilities.
Power Supply: At 530W, this will suffice. It is also Semi-modular for better cable management. Its reliable and efficient for temperature.
Ram: 240-pin 1600Mhz
Missing: Wireless Networking I do not believe is on this motherboard (quote me if I am wrong), so you can buy a
USB adapter for 15$ if you're near or have a clear signal path toward your router. Or you can buy a
PCI adapter for 17$. If you plan on overclocking, you can purcahse a
30$ Cpu Cooler for ~30$. It is also missing an
optical drive which is about ~20$.
