EFI Shell, what is this?

I just bought a new motherboard/cpu combo (Gigabyte j1800n-d2h)

So i plugged everything and when i boot my computer here's what it display:

Where the heck is the bios ? What the heck is the EFI Shell ?

Maybe my memory is incompatible or something ? The motherboard says it supports 1333 memory but i bought 1600 memory because ive been told that i can downclock it to 1333 in my bios...

There is a setting in the regular bios which causes the UEFI shell interface to come up which is probably not what you want to happen. You could try removing the motherboard's battery for a few seconds and then plugging it back in and that should reset the bios to defaults and you may be back to normal.

i finally managed to get inside the BIOS after a lot of messing around

new problem: i try to install windows 7 64 bits and it freezes as soon as the "starting windows" screen comes up (before the install). A big red bar appears on the top of the screen then the computer locks up
