I emailed tech support for my mainboard, the guy said it's not on the list of supported CPUs, and may cause instability. They seem identical, in every way except clock and Watts. CPUcompare comparison of details:

http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare_CPUs/AMD_AD5700OKA44HJ...

Seems minor.. but I don't want to have to ship the processor back because of system hangs. And no other CPU on list matches my needs-- this one is the best slot FM2 for the board and money.

Your motherboard supports FM2 100W processors, which the A10 5800K is. In theory it is supported.

The A10 5700K is a 65W processor and would also work on that board.

the 5700 is on the list. the 5800 isn't, that's th 100 watt one. i just hope it works. i alread RMAd a dead board, and memory, and a damaged video card. this build is a nightmare. it's been over a month.

Eventually it will work. Sometimes certain things are temperamental.

A clear signal would be no post from the motherboard that a processor is not compatible.

I'd like to try to avoid that. I already sent back 2 boards because of random reboots. Got a better power supply, No help. Finally, sent back the CPU and RAM. I don't want to get anything whose part number isn't on the list supplied by the board manufacturer-- yet.. the 5800 is really the best card for the money that Newegg offers, the rest are kind of just over not tolerably sub-par-- and I must use a store credit now.

If you or anyone else has experience with the scenario, please help. How much (stability) difference could 35 watts make, on a chip that's identical in every other way?

I mean if the 5700K isnt out of reach I would go for that since its on the support list.

Personally I would go for the 5800K since its cheaper and has a free game and might be worth the risk. Up to you. The safe bet would be the 5700K. Let's see what some other users might post.

still no luck. all the apus on support list are 65 watt.. so im guessing board was built to support 65 watt apus- the 100 may cause instability. any way around this? bios setting, underclock to consume less power, etc?

I mean you might be able to undervolt it, but still.

It says at the top of the page, FM2 processors have 100W support. 95W for FM2+ though.
