Customizing IdeaPad Y410p and Other Options (Lots of questions)

So I am thinking of buying a ideapad y410p. Originally I would have gone for the 510p because of the 1080p resolution but unfortunately its a bit out of my budget so I have to settle for the y410p with the 900p resolution. Here is a quick run thru of the specs
Ideapad Y410p
Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
14.0" HD+ Glossy LED Backlit with integrated camera (1600x900)
NVIDIA GeForce GT755M GDDR5 2GB
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz
1TB 5400 RPM

So anyways I heard the y410p had the ultrabay option for an additional graphics card, fan or hdd is this true? And secondly if I wanted to put the 2nd graphics card in does that mean I would have to remove the optical drive? And lastly lets say I want to keep my optical drive would I be able to remove the NVidia gt755m graphics card that comes with the computer and put in a better graphics card like a GTX 660? And if I am able to swap the cards out will my computer be able to handle it? Another question (I may be wrong and forgive me if I use the terms incorrectly)
so is it true that the higher the resolution the lower the fps provided that you are using a average graphics card? Because I really want to know if the 900p resolution will be a big difference vs the 1080p and if my fps will suffer because of the difference in resolution. (So like would the 900p have better fps but not as good picture quality? Or is it vice versa that the 1080 would have better fps?) Last question and what kind of games would I be able to play with the standard Y410p and what games would be out of reach? Like will I be able to play games like Crysis or Arkham Origins, Skyrim, Battlefield? (And if not what would I need to add to play them)

Thank you guys!!!! (I am still a computer newbie trying to learn!!!)

Solution
Lets see how many of these I can answer :) My friend has a 410p and loves it, and I helped him pick it out, so I got to get pretty knowledgeable on it.

1) Yes, it is true it comes with an ultrabay to give you an option for a second graphics card, fan, HDD, or disk drive.

2) Yes, you would lose the optical drive to install the second graphics card in.

3) No, the graphics cards are not swappable with just any graphics cards, only other ones installed inside Ultrabay enclosures, and the card you've listed is a desktop card, so double no. IF you do find another video card (either direct from Lenovo or otherwise) the laptop *might* be able to handle it, but hard to say, they're not exactly common to find (Ultrabay video cards that is)...

You should be able to buy the other ultrabay accessories straight from Lenovo.

WARNING: The Ultrabay is NOT a hot-swap port. You must shut down your computer to swap components out, do not do it while your computer is on or you risk frying something.

4) Your initial assumption is correct. You'd have a slightly less sharp resolution, so the graphics card has to push less pixels. This gives you a higher framerate, and also lets you turn some other settings up higher to make up for the lack of high-resolution.

5) You would be able to play most games at medium and some high settings on that card at a very playable level.

With these specs can you estimate about how many fps I would get playing these games at high settings?

This gives you an idea of the benchmarks of the GeForce 755M by itself. Usually these are done at 1080p, so consider a pretty performance decent boost if you drop the resolution down to 900p.

These are the benchmarks with two 755Ms in SLI.

The 510p with the 2x 755Ms is right at 899 right now on Newegg that the other poster recommended for you. If you can afford the amount over 900 after tax, I would very highly recommend that laptop.

With the dual GeForce 755m will I be able to play the games I listed at 1080 ultra settings with no prob? Because I don't know how good the dual 755m is or what to compare it to.

This one is on sale for $839 right now with two 755Ms. It has a smaller hard drive (only 500GB instead of 1TB, unfortunately) but two video cards.

Look at the second link I sent you. It gives you benchmarks for games with FPS at 1080p. You will play *most* games on high at above 30 fps with sli 755Ms. It will not play many games on ultra, but it will play a few.

That is a bit discouraging to hear that even with 2 graphic cards that I wont be able to play most games in ulta. Only be able to play high setting with 30 fps + I was hoping with dual graphics that I would get like 45-55+ fps and ultra 35+ fps. But your comment says otherwise.

That is correct. To give you an idea, two 755Ms are still slower than one 780M, and 12-15% faster than the 770M (780M is a good 25%+ faster than the 770M). For your price range (<$900), it's a little hard to achieve what you want, I'm sorry to say. You have to spend more to get to that kind of performance. And even if you did then, a 780M is still slower than a desktop GTX 760, which also won't play every game with every setting on ultra above 30fps (although it stands a much stronger fighting chance).

The reason this is the case is because laptop GPUs can't ignore the laws of physics, they're bound by their size and the heat they produce in the small laptop form factor.
