Would it be safe to OC the base core clock the around 1GHZ with this PSU?

Just noticed that that power supply is rather expensive, I hope you didnt buy it at that price.

Personally I would see how you like the performance as it stands and overclock later.

Really looking towards the upgrade, this 9800GTX+ I'm currently using is terrible at anything above minimum graphics.

I have 2 GTS250's (same as the 9800GTX+) in SLI and they seem to work for basic gaming lol.

Basic gaming sure, but a single 9800GTX+ trying to run games like Saints Row the IV and BF4. Hell no. At least not with a a6 5400k

That PSU is perfectly fine, if not overkill. I ran a sandy bridge i3 and 6850 (oc'd) on an Antec 400W PSU and that was more than enough.
