So for example an A6 is equivalent to what Intel processor and vice versa. I would appreciate a complete list of the most common ones and what they would equal to its rival. So I would like to know the AMD equivalents of an Intel Pentium, Celeron, Duo Core, i3, i5, i7 etc. and any other ones I may have missed.

Solution

no prob. but do try to keep your questions specific and somewhat centrally concentrated. that way more people can help you and less chance of getting answers mixed up with one another.

as for the list of apus, intel and amd do not have direct counterparts. at least not anymore. due to amd and intel's approaches, their processors are significantly different. however, both amd and intel serve the same customer-base. so the better way for you would be to set a budget, or price...

I don't think the reply you gave was necessary I am new to this forum and I am a newbie trying to learn. Sorry that I have a lot of questions and that they are broad. This is a learning process for me so if I am broad simply ask me to be more specific that's all.

Why don't you just learn to use Google like the rest of us? If everyone who tried to learn something just asked for lists like this, the forums would be filled with posts like these.

Well for your info I do use google but sometimes I get confused by terminology and sometimes I don't find the answer I am looking for due to my limited knowledge and not knowing exactly what to type/search for. I barely joined this site today and just looking for some friendly advice so that I know what I will be dealing with when I purchase a gaming laptop.

next time, lead with this underlined part. the most important factor is what you want to do with your pc. from your post, it looks like you're looking for a laptop to play pc games. now, you set a budget, then what games you want to run, screen size, battery life, storage and so on.

from your list, the highest performing amd mobile processor (apu) is the a10 5750M. here's it's info
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-A-Series-A10-5750M-Notebook-Processor.92882.0.html
it doesn't have a direct intel counterpart in terms of hardware. the reason is: majority of intel's laptop cpus are dual core with hyperthreading (a tech for a dual core cpu to execute 4 threads instead of 2) while the 5750M has more hardware resources to execute 4 threads. the a10 5750M is a stronger integrated graphics processing unit than intel's core i5 cpus hd 4600. if you want to play games using the igpu, then a10 5750M is slightly better choice. however, the a10 is old apu and amd might launch new apus in the future based on their latest kaveri apus, which are quite a bit better than a10 5750M's igpu.
as for intel, they're better for gaming with discreet gfx like geforce gtx 880M and such. price goes up accordingly.
you should open a thread in the laptops section or move this one there. you will get better help there.
