looks like a nice setup, if you can afford a little bit extra go for the 780 ti

I'd also personally go for a cheaper (possibly 3rd gen) i7 and a more expensive Motherboard.

The Motherboard controls the communication between all components and should not be skimped on. And the actual performance difference between 3rd and 4th generation i7 is about 5-7%.

You typed that your total budget is $2500 yet the whole build is just $1830.57. I'd go for Gtx Titan Black or Gtx 780 ti (remember to choose EVGA, they have the best GPUs) ,a better motherboard and another PSU(http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-80PLUS-Gold-Certified-Power-Supply/dp/B00EB7UIXM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1397561460&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+rm850)
There you go, goodluck! :D

I have an Asus P9X79 that is getting on a bit, but seems to be very solid.

Get a decent Asus or gigabyte motherboard and it will mean you'll get the most out of your other components.

+1 for better PSU

Titan black is much more, for not much more performance, although the extra on board graphic memory might be useful for you.
