Xeon compatibility (motherboards).
All motherboard specifications read like «Supports Intel® Core™ i7 /Intel® Core™ i5 /Intel® Core™ i3 /Intel® Pentium® /Intel® Celeron® Socket LGA 1150».
They never mention Xeon E3 v3 compatibility, although these use LGA 1150 socket too.
Can I take compatibility for granted? Or, otherwise?

As always you need to go to the motherboard makers website and check the CPU support list before buying a CPU to go with it.

As I already said, neither Asus nor Gigabyte list Xeon E3 compatibility.

This is why I ask..

What is needed are Server Motherboards. They can be found on the above link, and, as for E3 cpus, are very similar to normal LGA 1150/1155 boards, yet not coincident.

Have a look at motherboards from ASRock. They support Xeon E3 V3 processors.
