attempted BIOS update/flash through Windows but it manages to erase/corrupt the BIOS and did not rewrite the new version so now my ASUS CG5290 is bricked on startup no video/No POST all fans spin but that's it no other sounds/ No beeps, pulled battery tried resetting no go..... New pre-programmed BIOS chip????? will that possibily get it up running? Need help here!!!!

Contacted ASUS and a few Local places its like ******* talking to a brick wall I cannot get any ******* knowledgeable information whatsoever....stressing the **** out and loosing sleep over this.....HELP

You tried to flash the BIOS, and it failed?
1. Why?
2. Did you follow directions from ASUS exactly?

I don't know what to do, get/order a new BIOS chip and pray/hope that will get it up and going?, I'm pissed please don't tell me that motherboard is not toasted now....

You can't just order a new BIOS chip. It is hardwired to the motherboard.

I used ASUS update utility through windows... it can allegedly flash/erase/rewrite etc, well it managed to erase then stalled hung up/failed now its screwd..... No boot/POST/No video, tried everything unhooked everything/reset nothing.

So it definitely corrupted the BIOS.....

no its not hardwired on mine its in a socket I can pop it/in out etc

I've had to do this once or twice, not sure about your motherboard though, so no guarantees.

NO its not under warranty, I heard some say I should try to put in the new chip and if that doesn't work then yeah RMA....or find used working board or update newer board/new system, and I really don't want to do that right now haha

well I guess I'll go with trying/ordering new programmed chip see if that works....but waiting a week for some **** that you don't know will work or not... now that's aggravating the hell out of me haha

well i bricked my ECS mobo couple years back. The BIOS was not hot wired and i tried getting other bios into it but to no avail. As it was not i warranty i just had to buy a new mobo.

I doubt I would buy a new Mobo well not the same old outdated rampage ii gene anyways maybe a newer mobo save other hardware/memory I know its still good etc

Well I ordered/2 day shipped an ibuypower AM680FX tower

FX-4300, 8gig and R7 240 2 gb. I'm sure ill be happy haha, That GPU isn't that spectacular but not too bad might go with something a little better in the future haha

GOT THE CHIP IN!!! IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!

very nice booted right up, some weird shit going on now though all fans running full blast still and having internet problems, driver or hardware issue with Ethernet adapter.....so reinstalling windows to attempt to fix tried different drivers for adapter but no go.....always some shit man haha
