What should i be taking a i3-3220 or a i5-4430? i know one overpowers the other one but what I wanna know is, if an i3-3220 worth it since i'm low in budget right now. I wanted to get a i5-4430 but i'm having second thoughts, I wanna know if i can run games like bf4 and other new games with no fps problem having an i3-3220 or should just go for n i5-4430? As long as i could have a good fps, im fine with that. Thank you.

Solution

I'd suggest the i5.

As Eduello menitioned, and with the change on console industry going multi-core, a cpu like the 4th gen i5 (4 cored cpu, with no hyper threading) would give you way better results than a 3rd gen i3 (2 cored cpu, with hyper threading).

Usually, when gaming, the number of cores matter most than the hyper threading functionality, so for Intel based platform, and i5 would be enough for it - (i7's on 4th gen are 4 cores with multi-thread) - Intel's next generation will prolly have more cores per cpu, but that is not yet released on the market.
