UEFI Boot - Good or Bad?

So I was recently troubleshooting my computer due to a BSOD and and noticed something in the UEFI menu. When I installed Win7 via USB drive, everyone said to be sure you select the UEFI version in the boot order--to make sure it said UEFI before the USB name. I did this, installed fine, yada yada. Going back into my boot order now, I noticed that it no longer says UEFI in front of my selected boot device (a Kingston SSD) but instead says AHCI. I know that UEFI and AHCI are different things, but is my system behaving how one would hope? Should it always say UEFI in front of the device I'm booting from?

Well, as far as I have seen UEFI boots are usually faster than AHCI, and it gives more freedom to the SO to set how it is actually supposed to boot. I had tried to install windows 7 and noticed that the default installation of it was on AHCI instead of UEFI, in order to install windows 7 using UEFI there are some steps to take before you install it.

The link I have found over the internet is in Portuguese, but getting it short would be:

- Use win 7 boot disk to create and bootable USB
- Copy all the contents from the USB to your HDD
- Format the USB Pen-drive and ensure it is set to use FAT32 instead of NTFS (when you create the bootable USB pen-drive, windows set it as NTFS)
- Go to File\sources\install.win and open it using 7zip
- Do not extract the whole file since it is huge
- Seek and find the "Bootmgfw.efi" to your desktop (or any desired location)
- Close the 7zip windows to set free the install.win file
- Rename the "Bootmgfw.efi" file that you copied to "bootx64.efi"
- Copy the "bootx64.efi" file into "\efi\Microsoft\boot" located into the folder that contains the data you copied from the USB Pen-drive
- Copy everything from the folder you had created to store the data into the USB Pen-drive

Hope it helps to install it by UEFI

PS: Note that I did not try that myself, the owner of the link did and stated it worked for him, for more info I used this (http://www.marcoshonorato.com.br/windows/win7-uefi.php) to create the steps above

I think that I've got that part all working right, it's just after the OS is installed. It seems like you only need to use the "UEFI: USB DRIVE NAME HERE" option when you install the OS. I'm talking about the part after that, under normal boot conditions. If you look at the last post here: http://forums.vr-zone.com/avertek-virtual-service-center/2785813-uefi-boot-asrock-z77-extreme6.html
You can see that his SSD is labeled "AHCI P0: OCZ-VERTEX4." This is what I see after I install the OS--this is what I'm wondering is normal.
