So my sisters boyfriend and I found an online PvP server with about 350 occupants at any given time. We live in the country so our bandwidth is a sad 30 gigs. Since we've been playing we have been using ALOT of it, some days more than a gig. Do you think this is minecraft or another possible download in the background? Anyone know how much one hour of online activity uses? Do higher quality texture packs cause more usage? Please help

Solution
HD texture packs do not use more internet. The Minecraft server and any other program you use Youtube, Steam, Origin or Facebook contribute to that. There are internet monitoring programs like NetWerx that monitor your usage, you could use that to monitor and see if Minecraft is using a lot of internet.
