Hello,
I am new to computer building, and I am seeking some advice on building a new desktop of mine. I wanted to check if all the components were compatible, and if anyone has any suggestions for better components that I could use, then that would be awesome. Also I have not decided on the Hard Drive, Optical Drives, and GPU I will use so suggestions would be welcome. My goals for this desktop are:
Above average graphics
Good Sound
Good for Gaming
(I will probably overclock)
Also good performance
I will use a good amount of memory - 16GB
and I will run programs like solidworks 2013
also operating system suggestions
Once again I am a noob at this so I would greatly appreciate advice.
Anyway components -
Processor - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...
Oh and for the motherboard I wanted to chose between these two, here is a comparison - suggestions -

Power Source - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Sound Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
SO these are the parts, thank you.

z87 chipsets are better for overclocking. Raidmax are bad quality units and may die in stressful situations it will not pull up its real wattage. 16Gb is not needed unless you're are gonna run programs that need alot of ram usage. CPU link not working.Ok, um what do you mean by "CPU link not working" and what power supply do you suggest. Thanks. Also any suggestions for a Hard drive, Optical Drive, GPU, and ivy bridge processor?

and link - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...
if the link still does not work then on tigerdirect.com search: Intel Core i7-3770K Processor - Quad Core, 8MB L3 Cache, 3.50GHz (3.90GHz Max Turbo), Socket H2 (LGA1155), 77W, Fan, Unlocked, Retail (BX80667i73770K)

hmm looks like its an lga 1155. get an I5 4570k lga 1150 good combination with z87 that way you will have better performance and better overclocking out of it.Do you mean 4670k becasue I cannot find 4570K anywhere
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
and thank you for the power supply suggestion
And sorry but -
1) Given all the componenets now -
the z87 motherboard
the processor and power supply you suggested
the same chassis
the same sound card
are these all compatible
2) I really know very little about hard drives, optical drives, and Video Card/Graphics Card/GPUs
Thank you for all the advice.

. now that i call a gaming pc now. do you want anymore questions or suggestions?Thank You so much for giving me all this advice -
just a few more things -
does this need a Video Card/Graphics Card/GPU, also what optical and hard drives would you recommend. I just don't want to mess up on compatibility. Anyway, thank you once again for all these amazing suggestions, and tbh this was my first thread on this site - I joined a few hours ago. Thanks to you, I can say my experience on this site has been fantastic.

I was actually thinking of changing my motherboard, I know that is a big change but after looking at review for Asrock Fatal1ty Z87 Professional - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=CN274J...
and I found that this motherboard might be better http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
my question - is everything still going to be compatible? thank you

you're welcome anymore questions feel free to ask.
After many days of thought and finalizing my parts list -
I am either going to get a ASRock Z87 OC Formula/ac or a ASUS MAXIMUS VI FORMULA LGA 1150 Intel Z87
both are great motherboards, does one have an advantage over the other -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - Maximus VI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - ASRock
Also for the ASRock - http://www.asrock.com/mb/compare.asp?SelectedModel=Z87%...
Oh and my parts list, mostly the same, I just wanted you to see the finished result -

go with asus ofcourse they are much better than msi. very good psu choice.good dvd drive if you're gonna watch blu-ray movies if not ditch it and get a normal dvd drive that saves you 40$. instead of an hd 7770 get an r7 260x slightly faster than the hd 7770 overall. also one thing i would do is not get an expensive mobo and dvd drive and get a better gpu like the r9 270x.

WOW. no need to get that board seriously. you waste half your budget on that board.
this is what you did.
Expensive mobo = cheap gpu.
get this mobo. still a great mobo and overclocking capable with solid capacitors has 2 way sli/crossfire.
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681315737...
with all that extra money get this graphics card. alot better than the r9 270x and the rest. will play new games at ultra 1080p. 50+fps.

Hey,
I was wondering what cpu heatsink I should get -
- I want it on the slim side cause though I have room I really don't want to have to remove the window panel fan on this chassis - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=CKT8zf...
Any suggestions, I am going to over clock at 4.4-4.6 range so any suggestions (if I have to go to water cooling then affordable with good performance would be great)
