MB: MSI 970A-G46 (BIOS Up to date)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor 3.4GHz
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
OS: Windows 7 x64

This is my problem --> http://goo.gl/77GHjz

How come half my memory is "reserved" ?
Is it possible to lower it?
Does windows really needs 4.1GB of RAM for Hardware?

I checked the memory, it's fine, there are no issues with them. I also ran memory test, said it was fine.

BIOS up to date and so are the GPU drivers.

No issues with CPU, as far as I can tell.

Solution
Fixed it :D

Here's a screen shot of it now.

•Removed both RAM stick
•Inserted 1 of them first
•Went to bios and changes DRAM settings to default (timing, voltage and such)
•Launched Windows with the 1 4gb stick only
•Turned off my PC, inserted the other stick
•Went to BIOS and set the timings and that is it.

I don't think the DRAM settings in BIOS had anything to do with it, but still.

Thanks for the help guys ;D
Might have to do with any hardware that's attached (USB Camera or Cell phone, for example)
However; it's only in reserve. Loading a large application should drop it back down, otherwise; just a reboot if you experience any performance issues.

My issue with the post below was that it was laptop specific.

Try this

Click Start Start button, type msconfig in the Search programs and files box, and then click msconfig in the Programs list.
In the System Configuration window, click Advanced options on the Boot tab.
Uncheck Maximum memory check box if checked, and then click OK.
Restart the computer.

Hardware Reserved still at 4GB and what exactly am I looking for in BIOS, what do you mean video cards?

Eh i doubt its an issue with the video card though. I had a 880GM and i use onboard video (Just an office PC) and i can select up to 4GB to dedicate to the Graphics Card if i want which then is removed form the PC and shows as Hardware Reserved.

So was that box check or unchecked already?

The only other thing is the memory mapping. Sounds just too coincidental that you are missing 4GB and have a 4GB video card.

^^ That shouldn't really have anything to do with his issue. Never seen malwarebyte hog up memory and making it hardware reserved.

Also SVCHost runs MS DLL's and killing those services can case system instablility until you restart unless you know what they go to. Also that artical is about CPU usage which happens. Its not about memory.

Ending MBAMSERVICE only freed like 20-30 MB but did not affect the reserved memory issue.

You can use Processor Explorer to identify what, exactly, is using the RAM.

But unless there's a performance issue here, or if you launch a game and that RAM does not free itself, I wouldn't bother troubleshooting further. You are risking bigger issues changing your RAM management.
