2x4GB RAM or 1x8GB RAM?

I am getting a motherboard with 2 RAM slots and was wondering: Should I get 2x4GB sticks and not be able to increase down the line or get a 1x8GB stick and get another one later?

Most motherboards are dual channel. It will perform better with 2 sticks of RAM.

I also recommend getting 2x8 now if that's what you plan on getting. DDR3 can be finicky when it comes to pairing it up. It's better to buy the kit you want, stick with, and replace it down the line.

8 GB should be fine for most any program these days.
