I purchased a brand new TL-WDN3200 by TP-LINK and it wont install correctly on my Windows 8 desktop. I moved the device over to my Windows 7 laptop and everything seemed to work fine even the installation CD. :??: I went back over to my desktop and installed the driver manually (and through the CD) through TP-LINKs website (Windows 8 version) and still no luck. My error code through the CD was "Installer can not run on this platform. Please select package for your operating system." I used my OLDER wireless adapter to install the NEW wireless adapter drivers, but that seemed to fail through device manager. I also received an "error code 10".

On my Windows 7 laptop under Device Manager it registers the device as "TP-LINK N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter" On my Windows 8 desktop the device is registered as a "802.11 n WLAN"

I've tried to update it though device manager and got an code 10. The same message said "Windows found driver software for your device, but encountered an error while attempting to install it."

Unfortunately that did not work. Device Manager now recognizes the device as "TP-LINK Wireless USB Adapter" instead of "802.11 n WLAN" but it does not seem to work. Under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printer TP-LINK Wireless USB Adapter has a yellow caution symbol, so I was able to troubleshoot the problem. It claims that there is a problem with the driver and reinstalling it would fix the issue. I proceeded with that, but the message I received was that the TP-LINK Wireless USB Adapter has a driver problem. I tried to repair the driver, no luck. I tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall the driver and still no luck. What grinds my gears is that the USB adapter will work on a Windows 7 laptop. And yes it is compatible with Windows 8.

get at Device Manager click on the device go to Network Adapters and delete hole adapter restart the pc and check, if the windows downloads the drivers then your good if the yellow sigh pop-up anyway at Device Manager click on the device go to Network Adapters. extend, click on your device Properties click Details over Device description scroll to Display name, copy that name and paste in here.

Here is a message with the driver not installed...

"This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
Access is denied.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Drive"

I update the Device driver and I get "Windows found driver software for your device, but encountered an error while attempting to install it."

When I manually install the driver update through tp-links website it just shows that I'm updated...
