Hello, I am very new to computers and am looking to build a cheap desktop for gaming, i have found a great MSI A88X-G43 motherboard with an AMD A8-5600K trinity 3.6GHz CPU. Corsaid 2x4GB DDR3 memory and WD VelociRaptor 500GB 10000RPM 64MB Internal hard drive. I have looked all over and cannot find anywhere that describes how i can tell if a GPU will fit my motherboard. I am very new to this and anything would help me. Also, while im here is there somewhere that outlines how much wattage i will need to power a system? I already think i want a modular power supply just for east of assembly.

Thank you in advance

The motherboard has a PCI 3.0 x16 slot with 16 lanes available. Any modern PCIe GPU would work fine on that board.

It's a good motherboard for a single video card gaming or productivity system.

What GPU will you be using/looking at? All full size GPUs use a standard interconnect, the PCI Express X16 interface. The blue slots on that motherboard are the PCI Express slots. I would get a GPU and put it in the first blue slot.

the reason you cant find anywhere saying if it will fit or not is because any pcie x16 card will fit in any mobo with a pcie x16 slot, which yours does, so yes, it will work. however, your psu needs to be able to handle it. what card are you wanting to get?

So any PCIe X16 would work?

Thank you both. It has helped a lot.

Yes, essentially any modern GPU will work. There are only 2 PCI Epress X16 slots on that board, and the number 1 slot is usually the primary one. Use than one.

The core that comes with the MOBO is the AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz Quad Core. The only problem I see is its a 4MB L2 cache, I do not know what it means, but I read on other questions through here that a 6MB is better for gaming? would it be wise to upgrade for a little more money?

On that motherboard the first slot is the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot with 16 lanes available. The second is PCIe 2.0 x16 with 4 lanes available. Any modern PCIe (or PCI Express) video card is going to work on that motherboard, but your definitely going to want to put it into the blue slot closest to the CPU socket (it's the PCIe 3.0 slot).

Most of us here are gamers, and from the standpoint of a gamer/overclocker/benchmarker, the FX line of processors is better for gaming. They are unlocked for overclocking, and are more oriented for desktop enthusiasts. You will need a new board though, but there are good bards for just as cheap. The A line of APUs from AMD are designed to browse the internet and play Minecraft. Keep in mind, the FX processors do not have an internal GPU, so you will need one.

The main game I play is 90% LOL. I dont want to take up too much of your time, but is there any quick cheap CPU and MOBO you can think of? I dont quite know if i should get the FX 4-core with 3800 freq. or the 6-core with 3300 freq.?

I like the six core, a ASUS MOBO is the best.
