Sorry, I have tried looking all over for a simple answer but Im just giving myself a headache.

Im currently running windows 7 64 bit. I am upgrading my pc (motherboard, cpu, gpu and ram) and so am going to get windows 8. I want the 64 bit version.

The question:

Do I buy Windows 8 64 bit version, then just upgrade to 8.1 for free (i think this is correct), or do I get a windows 8.1 64 bit version?

If I do just buy 8.1 64 bit directly, which version is it, as whenever I have searched for 8.1 64 bit I end up with just 8.1 or 8.1 pro?

Sorry if this is a boring question but Im just not getting anywhere, thanks in advance.

Both paths (starting with 8 or 8.1) get you to the same end, Windows 8.1 Update 1. If you purchase 8.1 directly, you just have to look at the title of the software that is being sold to tell if it is pro. If it says Pro, then you are getting Windows 8.1 Pro. If not, then you are getting the standard version.

Yeah I understand that, Im not fussed about pro but I do want the 64 bit version.

Is pro 64, whereas the normal 32?
