Hello, and thank you for your time, I'll jump right in !

I built my computer about 2-3 years ago, and never had a serious problem with it. However, since a few months, when playing games my PC randomly shut down. I had a good enpugh build, my PSU seemed to have enough power, and everything was well cooled and below critical temperatures. Only this time, it wouldn't reboot :
-Asus logo along with "Press del to enter BIOS"
-JMicron error, saying no drives detected (displayed for 0.5s) shown in spoiler
-Same Asus screen, but frozen, and couldn't enter bios or any boot menu
And the mobo's BOOT_DEVICE_LED is solid red the whole time, still to this day.

Detecting drives : Done. No drives found

I could tell it was a HDD issue, so I unplugged them all, which hid the JMicron error notice and enabled me to get into BIOS. I then followed a forum post and, in the BIOS, set "JMB storage OPROM" to disabled but since the HDDs were not plugged in, could not set a different booting order or such.

After disabling this parameter, I plugged back the HDDs and the error didn't show up, but the Asus screen was still frozen.

This is everything I tried :
-Booting with one working HDD with OS from other PC
-Tried booting with RAM stick n°1 alone and n°2 alone, on two different slots
-Tried booting with GPU unplugged
-Clear RTC and removing/putting back the battery

A lot of other people seem to have this issue, but every situation is different and their solution wasn't mine...

My setup:
Mobo : Asus P8Z68-V
CPU : Intel Core i5 2500k -- Cooled with Corsair H60
GPU : MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk
PSU : OCZ ModXtream 600w
RAM : G.Skill RipjawsX 2*4 Gb DDR3
HDD : Western Digital Caviar Blue 1Tb

Hi, I took the mobo out of the case, found a setup that allowed me to get into the BIOS (Mobo + CPU + RAM) and tried to add the hard drive on all the slots and the screen was still frozen on the Asus logo. I took out the battery and made a clear RTC, then unplugged the HDD, the American Megatrends screen popped up and got me into the BIOS my pressing F1. When doing the same procedure and plugging the HDD, the A.M. screen didn't show up, it jumped straight to the frozen Asus logo and I couldn't get to the BIOS.
The PSU seemed to work fine, as it powered the mobo correctly and I could hear the HDD spinning.

Edit : When plugging a CD Drive, everything works erfectly, I can even access the CD content (Windows setup) but it wouldn't work with both the CD Drive AND the HDD.

Two things I didn't see listed in your attempts; first is to ensure that AHCI is selected for the drive you are attempting to boot from (provided this was the setting you used when you installed the OS on the boot drive, if not ensure that the original setting is selected).

Second attempt a boot with the JMicron controller disabled.

After having gut my pc and tried several things, I could boot with a healthy HDD which was recognized. It's clear now that indeed, the HDD is the issue. I could try to re-install Windows but as soon as I plug it, I cannot boot with the CD Drive, or with another working OS, it tries to boot on the corrupt HDD...

I can access the BIOS if the failing HDD is unplugged, therefore, I can set the DVD Drive as the prime boot, but the defective HDD takes over when plugged and tries to boot, blocking the access to the BIOS.
