Hi,

I have an 8GB flash drive that I can no longer access data from. It's the old story - Windows Explorer tells me the disk is not formatted, and when I try and run chkdsk, it tells me the file system is RAW.

I know that the solution is to use recovery software, but for the life of me I cannot find any software that is:

Free, and
Will allow me to recover everything for free, and
Will allow me to recover 8GB for free.

ICare will only recover up to 2GB for example.

There must be some software out there that will do all the above. Can anyone suggest some?

Thanks!

I tried that and got the error message:

Failed to scan the following drives:
G: Unable to determine file system type

I have never needed to use Recurva (or any of the others) to actually recover critical files.
I have tested what Recurva does, on various levels of delete, overwrite, delete, etc....

It is not guaranteed. Period. I don't care what anyone says.....it might, or might not, work.
It may show a file name, but not be able to retrieve the full data.
It may retrieve the file, but an image file may be corrupted.

All of the other free solutions are pretty much the same.

Try it. If it does not work, then this is why you have a backup.

I've just installed it and run the program. It only gives me my hard disk as an option. The flash drive doesn't come up in the list.

Alas, Recurva won't recognise the flash drive.

Failed to scan the following drives:
G: Unable to determine file system type

So it looks like Recurva and EaseUS aren't going to solve the issue.
