Pretty basic question that I can't seem to find a good answer to.

I built a gaming PC awhile back sort of on a budget and ended up with an i3-2120 and HD7770. I have since upgraded my CPU to an i7-3770 only to find my graphic problems persist and I might have made the wrong choice.

I have been playing games recently such as Far Cry 3, Witcher 2, Bioshock: Infinite, etc and in most cases graphics are always near the bottom and I still can't pull consistent fps above 30.

Onto the questions!
1. Is my HD7770 really that outdated as a graphics card?
2. Is NVIDIA generally significantly more reliable than AMD cards for gaming?
3. Could any other hardware in my machine be causing this bottleneck?
4. Is there some interaction between my CPU and GPU that I don't seem to understand?

Additional Info: Drivers are up to date, 8 GB memory

1. I wouldn't have though it was that bad, although if its a 1GB card it's probably that.
2. In my opinion yes, Nvidia has the better software, technologies and support.
3. Like I said in 1, if you have a 1GB card that is probably the problem. If its the 2GB model, it could be low amount of RAM as games are starting to use motherboard RAM now as well as vRAM.
4. Nope, it should all work.

Hope this helps :D

If you have 8GB of motherboard RAM then its not that. Yeah I'd just get a new card as it seems the GPU must be the problem. I don't know what your budget is but anywhere from £120/$180 upwards Nvidia are always going to have the better cards so try and grab any GTX 700 series card, the best one you can afford :D
