What just caused Far Cry 3 to play at a FPS of one every few seconds?

So earlier today i installed Bully on my laptop, did the first mission and all went smoothly. Just now i installed Far Cry 3 and attempted to play it but it was lagging so much at the title screen that it went at about one frame every few seconds. WTF? I have a Core i7-4700MQ, 8GB RAM and a 765M GPU so this doesn't make sense. Should be noted that 5 months ago I was playing it on this same laptop, no issues. Before that, I was on a PC with worse specs (i3 and HD 7750) and still fine. Might be worth mentioning that on 04/04, last Friday, I did a factory reset on it and it took till the following Monday to get it right again due to some drivers going missing (took all of 2 minutes to sort out over the phone, but during the weekend I tried to do it myself but couldn't get it to work)

You are running the game on a laptop. Laptop spec's cannot compete with a PC's specs at all. Also Bully was released in 2004 - 2006 and Far Cry 3 was released late 2012. Laptops are not gaming devices

Laptops can compete with PCs just not too well, Bully was out on consoles in '06 and PC in '08 and laptops can be gaming devices.

Either overheating, or the 765M holding you back.
