Hey guys, só, Just wantedd to ask if overclicking 1333MHz ram to 1600MHz is safe?
Mobo Asus h87-pro and i5 4570

So in uefi bios i have the option to put my ram at DDR3-800/1333/1400/1600
I can put 1600 and boot but my latency went from cl9 to cl11, só i Just changed in the timings to cl9 ( i changed every set in the timins menu with the valuess that should bê for 1333MHz)
And it works! Is it safe? How can i test my ram stability?? Im Just finding this weird as my 8gb ram are Max 1333mhz. I already tested on some benchmarks and increased ( im doing this mostly for intensive ram games)
Thanks in advance :)

1600mhz at CL9 is safe. Just use your PC like usual, and then you will know if you have stability issues if you encounter crashes or blue-screens.

I would just stay running it @ 1333Mhz. It'll still give good performance.

What model of DRAM? with most decent 1333, 1.5 sticks can go to 1600 with a slight DRAM voltage jump - if 1.5 sticks try 1.55, and raise each base timing initially by 1 except the last, kick it up to 2, so a 1333, 8-8-8-24 1.5 set try at 1600, 9-9-9-26, 1.55 :)  any problems give us a shout

Thanks for very fast answer! I got two Kingston 2gb and 1 corsair 4gb.
They are all 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5V, im running them on 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 1.5V. Doesnt seems a little strange? How can this be possible? Should i put it to 10-10-10-26 1.55V or leave it like this and see if its stable? Thanks again

It's usually not best to run different sets of memory together due to incompatibility reasons. Memory should have the same voltage, frequency, timings when paired together.

Leave it at 9-9-9-24 at 1.5v if it it stable. Lower latency is better too. If you experience instability raise the voltage .5, or a bit higher.

I know but the corsair 4gb was a gift... And never got any problemm for aready 2 or more years. Anyway so I shoulddnt have problemms with 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5V knowing that my ram is 1333? And if i do i Just increase voltage to 1.55V? It wont overheat if i increase voltage? As for the latency already tried cl8 with no luck.
Thanks

If running at that, stay there, if problems pop up, kick the DRAM voltage up the + 0.05 to 1.55, as is, looking good, thought we might be back and forth, playing with timings/voltages, you get the Star ;)

Ok Thanks a lot :)  but About increase voltage, could my ram overheat?

Should be fine, DRAM doesn't use much and seldom ever really get's hot, unless the rig has extremely poor airflow ;)

I got preety good airflow so its cool X) ... Just one more thing, when changing timings, should i only change the first 4 timings (9-9-9-24 for example) or should i change the rest either?

There's plenty of others to play with, secondary, tertiary.....I'd take screen shots of things as is as fallback and then keep notes as you go. Seriously doubt you'll show any great gains, they can be extremely tricky

Hm ok, só i shouldnt play with those as im not very good at Memory overclock and stuff. The primary timings are the more importants right?
