So like I have had this HP Pavilion p6610f desktop for 2 years now. Never has been good for gaming because the integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 is garbage for any of the games I've wanted to play.I don't want to buy a brand new computer but I was thinking if I replace the PSU I can install a better graphics card and i should be good from there. I'm not really knowledgeable in computer though so I don't know if i have to do something else to it like mess with the motherboard or whatever.
My computer has an AMD Athlon II Quad-Core Processor, 4 GB RAM and 750 GB of hard drive space. Not sure what the wattage on the PSU is. I repeat, I do not know allot about computers so any help will be appreciated.

Oh and another question. if I am looking to live-stream these videogames to TwitchTv say using OBS or Xsplit, I shouldn't have any problems should I? Because very recently I was just test-streaming Dead Space which is fairly old so i was able to play it in high settings. But when I began streaming it there was a significant FPS drop and the stream was extremely choppy. I dont know what the problem was either and I realize this may be a specific problem for my computer.

I think for gaming a Phenom II X4 would be quicker than the Phenom II X6. I just remember reading that somewhere.

Splendid
this is the one that held on for a long time.

edit:
The thing is you cannot overclock with that motherboard so I would guess you would do better with a 6 core. I will see if I can generate a comparison

the BE (black edition) are faster even without an overclock; however, these games are old and many more games are using more cores so I do not know how that will relate to todays games really.

Have a look at these good reads :)

(this one has charts scroll down)

I think since the Phenom II X4 and the X6 run on similar architectures, it would be dependent on how high it is clocked. Similar to how the i7 performs very very close to the i5 in terms of gaming due to games not really using the hyper threading.

The applications seem to utilize the hexacore well.
