ok, here is what i found before i retracted it. ps4 has a strange 7870 in it. a 7870 is a fair bit better than a 6950. where it gets kind of funky is that it isnt a 7870 as we know it and im not entirely sure what has been changed. the die size is 88mm instead of like 200 and something mm. so, the cores are inside the cpu die, it is almost a SOC, system on a chip. which is different than a 7870 because a 7870 is a discrete gpu. so we have some mobile form of a 7870 in there. as to actual performance... i dont know! i mean, on paper they sound the same but in practice a ps4 is not performing anywhere near a 7870 with a good cpu in a pc. which makes me wonder, is it the gpu of the ps4 which is causing it to perform worse? is the cpu really holding everything back that much? is it the operating system? drivers? did they do something to the hardware i am not aware of?
on paper the ps4 might sound more powerful but in practice, i just dont see it.
