I have recently been having problems with my monitor again. Before my monitor went purple, so I went into my colour settings to change it to balance more heavily on Green and Blue. Now the monitor is flashing between Dark and Light. As well as being more green. It seems it cannot hold the colour... I have no idea what caused this.. Any help would be much appreciated

It could also be that the CRT is simply going bad. Most stores don't even carry CRTs anymore, so I'm guessing this is a pretty old monitor. That's actually what prompted us to replace our monitor -- the color was fine, but the brightness had faded significantly, to the point that it was getting difficult to use it.

You can get a decent 20-24" LCD monitor for really cheap nowadays, about as cheap as what you probably paid for the CRT originally.

If it is a CRT, especially a large one, turning/rotating the screen 90 degrees while on will turn the screen pink, because of the huge magnetic fields generated. It takes a long time of being off (days) before power on degaussing can correct it. You CRT might have a manual degauss button, but it won't correct this problem right away and repeated pressing is not OK.

As stated above bent pins can cause problems. If the monitor has a removable cable make sure you using the correct one there are different pinout used, one of which blocks one pin (uses 14 pins) so that gets bent over if a 15 pin cable is used.
