What kind of games do you play?
If you play fast paced games (FPS or racing games for instance), get a 100+ Hz monitor.

I was in your position 1 month ago and watched various YouTube-videos of people demonstrating 60 Hz monitors vs. 100+ Hz monitors.
The difference is subtle, but especially when you make quick turns you can easily see how incredibly smooth things run with a 100+ Hz monitor.
For this reason I bought an Asus VG248QE which is 144 Hz.
I can highly recommend it just as pretty much everyone who has rated the monitor on Amazon.com
Colors are just fine and a definite improvement over my 6½ year old Samsung 930BF monitor.

If you play slower games, get a monitor with an IPS panel.
Colors are apparently prettier there.
I've never had the chance to check this out for myself, but that's what people say on various forums at least.
