Samsung 840 software fail

I bought the samsung 840 Evo SSD upgrade package, and after installing the softwares, when I opened the data migration icon, a warning popped out saying "cannot locate a disk with a Windows OS installation" I just want to migrate the data and OS from HDD to SSD,and replace HHD with SSD on my laptop. Is there any alternatives to achieve the goal?

I use windows 7, my laptop model is hp pavilion g

If you use the AMD system the Data Migration Software may not work because the software only can support Microsoft or intel SATA ahci drivers.

The data migration tool works with AMD.

The 'Magician' software has limited options in certain optimizations.

I use an external USB3 enclosure for the SSD, and connect it to the laptop to clone the OS. It has not failed me yet in both Win7 and Win8.

edit: This was with HP ... can't speak to other OEMs.

That error only comes up if your Disk is set to Dynamic. I would check in Disk Management to make sure its Basic and not Dynamic. If its Dynamic, then you won't be able to use Samsung Data Migration.
