Hi there,

I recently build a machine with a GTX 770 and have a 4 year old samsung 1360 x 768 monitor. I saw an LG monitor which I think is not that expensive ( 190 euro ) and is 1080 p. LG 27" LED-Monitor Flatron 27EA33-V.

Is it worth investing in this monitor in terms of games and movies which are displayed at usually max 720 p ?

nice build you got there....

you will not lose any performance in CPU intensive games i would say. the 4670k is a cream of the crop CPU so i would say you are fine. But still get a 1080p monitor.

atleast 60hz refresh rate

I was unaware your monitor could be a bottleneck until I started investigating it a couple of days ago.

it isnt really a bottleneck...

you just have too much power for what your resolution needs.

at your resolution you could use a gtx 660 and max out modern games.

you could at most games things like planetside 2 and the new star citizen will struggle a little as they are also heavily cpu based

yes. and the reason it being cpu intensive is due to the mass multiplayer aspect.

if it were just a 6v6 game or something, it would be less CPU dependent (irrevelent but the more you know)

what is your CPU?

I've got the intel i5-4670k. I was considering the i7 but that was 80 euros more expensive so I decided to save money there in order to get other items which I might need. Full specs

Corsair CS750M
D3 8 GB 1600-9 BX Sport XT
Fractal D Define R4 pearl
Intel Core i5-4670k
MSI 2GB D5 X GTX770 Twin Frozr
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
Samsung 840 evo 250 GB SSD
2 TB seagate

Can anyone recommend a good monitor ? I am not rich so can't spend huge amounts but want to spend money on a monitor that will not bottleneck my experience with this pc ?
