Hello everyone, i need your professional help.
It all started around 4-5 months ago, when i was playing LOL and was with friends on skype i would sometimes get windows 7 to lock up with looping sound from headphones. It was quite rare so i didnt pay much attention, but recently it started to repeat much more until last weekend.

To isolate the cause i cleanly installed windows 64 bits (was 64 before) and it froze/restarted at random times with no BSOD (i could restart 4 times an hour, it could stay online for 3 hours, but it got worse).

So yesterday i got a new PSU corsair CX600 (600W, old psu was 500W) and it got better, its about 2-3 hours between each lock up (no restart). I did some more tests to find the cause:

1. Ran memtest86 for 9 hours (7 passes and weirdly it didnt restart through out that time)
2. Ran chdisk for C, D got to 80% and i got freeze (one HDD only, no SSD)
3. Reinstalled windows with old psu (maybe thats the problem)
4. Updated all the drivers i could with device manager.

My System:

CPU: Intel core 2 quad q9400 https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5Q3_DeluxeWiFiAP_n/
MB: Asus P5Q3 deluxe
Cooler: Hyper 212 evo (PC was overclocked a bit half a year ago)
PSU: Corsair CX600

So what are your thoughts, what should i do?

chkdsk finished fine for C disk, but D took too long ( about 4 hours) and at about 95% it froze, ill try to leave it for the night. Also i want to ask you if there is a reliable way to test a bad CPU or MB without a replacing them?

Are you running on the integrated graphics or do you have a separate card?

You said you replaced your PSU, but did you also do a cleaning of the case along with it? And also, if you do have a dedicated GPU, did you clean it as well?

I would download something like CPU-z or speedfan and monitor your temperatures while playing. If they get above 90* I would check the thermal paste.

Thanks for finding time to answer me :) .Sorry i forgot to mention that i have a GTX 560 which was bought 2012-09. Temperatures are fine, on load (prime 95) CPU is going 40C-44C, GPU doesnt overheat aswell ( i didnt clean the case though)

I have left chdisk to check D through the night in SAFE mode with networking and it didnt restart, should i asume drivers, bad windows installation or still its something else?

EDIT: just as i finished this post i went to check event viewer for any errors and got restarted. I was still in safe mode, only event viewer and google chrome was on

So to clarify, you have only one Hard Drive that is partitioned into two separate virtual drives yes? And it is both C and D that are causing you troubles in the checkdisk or is it only one of the drives?

Also, when you say you are running checkdisk, are you referring to the command prompt line method or the "right click the drive and selecting it" method?
