Ok so i built a new computer last year after my old one was cooked by lighting. I got lots of great advice here and built a new computer wich i am enjoying greatly. I have run into an issue though. I bout a 1T HDD but i'm finding I want more room on my computer. Silly me dling to many game from steam i know right? Now I was ok building the computer but is it possible to add another HDD to my existing computer without having to reformat everything? I don't really want to lose all my existing info cause it's a lot of redownloading i'd have to do and my internet connection is not the most stable sometimes. I've got a legit copy of windows 7 and everything and if I have to I can reformat everything if there is no other option. My basic question though is can i just add another HDD to my computer without having to wipe the entire computer and start over? I just want more space for games and pictures, etc...

Solution
Yes, it's easy. Just connect it to an open Sata port and format it in Windows. No issues at all. You will have a new drive with a new drive letter.

Unless you want to migrate your Windows copy, then you will need to format.

So basically plug in, format, and it will become a new drive instead of c drive. Gotcha. Ok that's much easier then i thought it would be. Long as i can play games from it that will work for me.
