Hey sorry I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to computer stuff. I'm just starting to learn more about them. Anyway, someone told me that it is not possible to upgrade OEM computers, is that correct? I am looking to build my own gaming PC and someone said that if I plan on upgrading it down the line that I need to build my own. Can anyone provide some insight here? Also if I were to buy a custom build computer from say IBuyPower or Cyber Power, would those be "upgradable" down the road? Thanks for the help. Sorry I'm clueless lol.

While any computer is upgradeable, you also need to keep in mind that unless you build it yourself, chances are you will be voiding the warranty. You also need to watch out for hardware limitations (like the power supply) or bottlenecks (high end CPU with a low end graphics card, or vice versa).

If I were you, I would just build my own PC, because they are cheaper and more personal. Plus, you get the experience of building your own computer.
