Will a 750W PSU with 4-pin atx work with a 4-pin to 8-pin adaptor for a Z87-G45 mobo?

I'll start with my pc specs:
750w psu with 4 pin atx
i7-4770k 3.5ghz
MSI Z87-G45
2x 2gb GTX 760 sli
2x4gb 1600mhz ram
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
2x hardrives and 1x SSD

My biggest concern is if I buy a 4-pin to 8-pin 12v atx adaptor, will something go wrong, will there not be enough power, chance of damaging the cpu or is it time to get a new psu which supports an 8-pin atx?

I guess it's all down to trial and error. The power supply has done me well, my new cpu should be here soon so i'll hope for the best
