I live in a house with a metal roof which kills most wireless signals. I had been using a carrier supplied router to run a Samsung Verizon Network booster that allows my cell phones to work inside. Needless to say I have had a terrible time getting it to work? Well in my closet I had a old Linksys WRT310N (end of 2007??) It was one of the first Wireless N routers. I figured what to heck its worth a try. I pluged it in , configured all my android devices and the repeater and chromebook for it and the old think is KICKING BUTT. Not issue one. Heck the last firmware update was like the first of 2009! I just get a Chuckle out of it after all these years. I was lucky with this one a sure have gotten my money back.LOL!!!!!

just checking back with you (sorry for delay). glad all is working out for you.

If i understand right the Verizon exteneder does just that it. If it is what I think, it creates a small tower (if you will) and then does VOIP like you said. Only downside is that if you are on a call using it I do not think it will transfer to a regular tower as tower to tower does.

Just because something is newer doesn't mean it is better (example was Windows ME or Vista)....lol

I always recomend that when you get something "newer" to replace "older" keep the older for a few months or even a year (if you have space to store) that way if it does not work as well you have something to fall back on or use when you send for warranty. After a year, there...
It's a well-known fact that older routers are better built & more reliable than most of the newer ones unless you pay a premium price (£100 minimum). Those supplied by the ISP are generally cheap quality too because the ISP usually provides them free of charge, so it's only to be expected.

other thing you can check for fun is the signal output (if you are referring to wireless issue) on the verizon. some do not put wifi signal output at 100% by default since most houses do not need it and they don't want you sharing with neighbors. when I got mine that was first thing I check and it was around 50% and changed to 100% and definitely saw an improvement.

Thanks I went in and found it. Like I said I have set all my Android up on the Linksys and my issue disappeared. Mind you I am on DSL and I know almost nothing about it. The Extender I take it uses VOIP for voice and then standard wireless when I have the Mobile disabled. I just got such a chuckle hooking up this old thing that I was surprised worked at all and its doing a far better job than the newer one? GO FIGURE....LOL.

After a year, there will be other models to choose from as in todays technology a year is a long time for "newer" to be released.
