Restored XP no sound or Internet connection

I have a Dell Latitude D610. I installed win 7 and have no sound after. Restored XP and still have no sound and now no Internet connection for downloads. How do I fix if I cannot connect to Internet, I only need the laptop for old programs and searches. Is download to desktop usb and copy to laptop possible? Thanks for help anyone.

My Lenovo has on its updates page for my machine some Intel Chipset Updates specifically for when the machine is updated to a new OS.

"This package installs the software which detects and reconfigures the
following devices.

- Intel 7 Series Chipsets
- Intel 6 Series Chipsets
- Intel 5 Series Chipsets
- Intel 3400 Series Chipsets
- Intel 4 Series Chipsets
- Intel 3 Series Chipsets
- Intel 900 Series Chipsets
- Intel 800 Series Chipsets
- Intel Server/Workstation Chipsets

Refer to marketing materials to find out what computer models support which
devices.

If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this
package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted
below."

If you can find something similar for your machine it might help with the audio.

I tried with the USB transfer but did not get it done. Possible the transfer I did was not done correctly.
