my wife's pc had a geforce 8800 gts, It suddenly stopped displaying so I took the card out and tried it in My PC. The card did the same thing (no signal check cable connection). I figured the card was fried so I bought another 8800 gts (Second hand but pulled from a working PC). The exact same thing happened (no signal check cable connection) I tried it in my PC and got the same display error. The PC boots up as normal as you can hear it loading windows etc. What could be the problem please ?

Solution
Looks like the replacement broke! You can try baking it http://www.overclockers.com/the-oven-trick-repairing-your-broken-video-card-with-an-oven/

Yeah it does look that way. The oven thing is worth a go with the older card, will send the new one back for a refund. Thanks for confirming what I really already knew. Much appreciated :)

ModernWarfare. Yeah both PCs run on different monitors and both cables work with other cards, My PC has an HD5750 and hers is currently using our fail safe back up card for many years 6600 gt. all working :)

well I just needed confirmation that the card wasn't working before I sent it back really. If I send it back and the guy says there's nothing wrong with it makes me look like a Muppet. Thank's for your response guys.
Regards.
Nick.
