Hey Guys,
A friend and I are custom building an Intel build on a $500-$600 budget. It's not the best build but yeah. He shouldn't be doing any hardcore gaming just basic stuff. I have learned from reading stuff to NEVER cheap out on the PSU, and GPU as well as the PSU and Ram. I would think thar 8 GB's would be enough for him and so would an i5, rather than going overboard and going i7. The video card is a EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2 GB, which I would assume would be fine due to the fact that most games only require no more than 1 GB. What do you guys personally think. NOTE: He doesn't have $1,000 so he probably can't go with the GTX 770's or 780's. The only reason why I also added in an extra fan is because the Thermaltake Commander MS-I only has 1 in the back and plan to mount it in the front to keep the build cool.
Thanks

One issue with the current configuration above is that you have the 2500k (overclocking via multiplier) CPU with an H61MB that does not support an overclock using the multiplier.

Second issue is you are using 1 single 8gb DDR3 dimm, this is sacrificing speed (will only run in single channel mode instead of dual). Better to do 2x4GB.

eh, i would consider the fx 8350, same price, but add in a $30 cooler like 212 evo and you can OC that thing like a boss, the i5 2500k is really only faster at single core programs, so in general the fx 8320 or 8350 would probly give a little more performance. the psu you chose is mediocre, you can get the XFX 550 watt which is better and cheaper, and 550 watt is plenty for what you need.

Good idea with dual channel will take that into concideration

Regarding this sole comment...holy crap are you serious?! i mean i got told that corsair PSUs with 80+ certification were a worthy upgrade from the cheap PSU built-in the case, so i invested on a CX500M to get something better...and now i read this?! ah come on...

I don't know the full details as I'm not a PSU expert. What I've heard from several people (on this forum and on others) is that the Corsair CX series can be problematic due to the cheap capacitors used. Corsair in general is a good brand for PSUs, but it's just this series (as well as a couple others that I forget) which can have problems.

Google it if you'd like to find out more. :)

It'd be safer to get the PSU I linked.

Again, what games will he be playing?

Also my friend is doing a build with a CX750M, do you think I should get the Thermaltake SP-750M instead
