Hello there!

I recently learned that you can clear up the WinSXS folder, HOWEVER. It currently takes up around seven gigs of my 32gb SSD since my OS is installed on it. And so far, I've only got a gig free on it. When I run the windows disk clean-up software, it shows that I only have a very low amount, a few megabytes of data sitting in WinSXS. I REALLY want my SSD to have more room and not have those updates sitting in there. So, is there any way I can FORCE a clean-up? Perhaps safe-mode or the likes?

Maybe it's not old updates but instead unnecessary back ups? I don't know, but I'd really like to get it a little cleaned up if possible. Let me know of my options.

Thanks guys!

So does anyone have an answer for this? And I know 32gb is small for a SSD to be used for Windows, but who the hell imagines windows getting any larger than 25gb~? I'll probably be ordering a 120 or 64 soon, if thats suggested by some of you guys, but I want to see if I can somehow save this. Why is my SXS folder so freaking huge?

OK.
I checked my work PC (Win 7), and my home PC (8.1).
WinSXS folders in each take up around 6-7GB.

What can be gotten rid of in there? Completely unknown. Probably none of it.
Some of it was last updated in the last Patch Tuesday, some of it the Patch Tuesday before that.

A 32GB drive is too damn small for a current Windows drive.

Where did you read you can "clear up the WinSXS folder" ?
Go follow his directions. But don't be surprised when things don't work right after.

"The short answer is that the WinSxS folder isn’t as large as it may appear at first glance because size calculations can include Windows binaries located elsewhere which makes the WinSxS folder seem larger than it really is."
