Why doesn't Windows 8.1 recognize my evga gt 6600

My gaming puter won't recognize my 6600 card. It won't let me load the drivers. Anyone have any input?

with video cards make sure the motherboard chipset drivers have been installed. if there not installed the pci bus wont run right and a lot of pci devices like sound and video cards wont be seen.

Do you mean 6600 or 660? If it's the former that's an ancient card which is no longer supported.

What do you see in the Device Manager? What happens when you try to load the drivers? Try the card in a different slot if possible. If all fails, try to borrow another card to test with and/or test that card in a different system.
