My wife and I run Windows 7 Home Premium on our pcs, and we're having problems with file transfers. I'm using a crossover ethernet cable to transfer the files. If I use my pc to push the files to hers, it's slow (~100KB/sec); but, if I use her pc to pull the files from mine, it's faster (~14MB/sec).

I've disabled SMB 2 protocol and disabled Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4 and IPv6) on my pc, but it didn't help. I'm not in a homegroup. I honestly don't know what I'm doing anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

If I'm understanding your post correctly, this is what we're doing. Our pcs are connected with a crossover ethernet cable to form the lan. This problem occurs regardless of the means of connection. I've reterminated the cable, made a new cable, connected to eachother through a router that we were each connected to by ethernet cable, connected to the router wirelessly, and have even connected to Hamachi to skip our equipment altogether. Each time, the problem persists. We see eachother properly and can even share the files that we want to share, but it's VERY slow.

I appreciate your help, though. I hope that I'm not sounding rude or ungrateful.

I'd like to give an update. I'm beginning to thing that this isn't a network problem at all anymore. I tried again to pull the file from my wife's computer (instead of pushing it from mine), and the speed was around 102KB/sec. I tried multiple times now to move the file from either computer, and it's always slow.

I should also mention that my pc has been having problems burning dvds lately (data dvds, not video). Anytime I transfer information to or from a USB flash drive, it's also very slow and hangs up a certain points. This happens on multiple flash drives. I thought that it might be my RAM, but I ran memtest86 for 10 hours, and no problems were found. Could this be my harddrive?
