Overclocking CPU/Ram question.

I just did a new build and bought myself the I5 4670k. I'm wanting to overclock it to 4.5 or more if all is good at 4.5Ghz. Right now I made it up to 4.2Ghz running stable and I have a "idea" of what I'm doing from all the research I been reading up on with OC'ing. I just been increasing the clock speed until the PC don't boot, then i go back and increase the voltage until it starts up then I run all the test on it to see how it does..

But my question is, do I need to overclock the Ram at all? Or can i just leave it as is?

If it helps my Ram/motherboard is.

G.SKILL Sniper DDR3 1600 timing of 9-9-9-24
Motherboard- MSI Z87 G45 Gaming.
Edit- Also my CPU Cooler is a Cool Master Hyper Evo 212 with dual fans.

Also any advice is more then welcome lol

Solution
No need to OC the DRAM, can if you want to, but sounds like you got a decent CPU, think you can prob hit 4.4 anyway, maybe 4.5 or even higher...COuld try setting the vCore to about 1.25 and just see how high up you can go

I haven't used Prime cause I hear it can increase your voltage higher and make the CPU run hotter. I just been using Intel's Burn test and I never see it go over 55c-60c. My PC is also sitting right in front of the AC unit in the Room that is blowing out at 60 degrees lol I like a cold room.

Prime fully stresses the CPU to check for maximum stability, so it effectively hits its maximum temp and voltage. If this happens to be higher than another test, then it's because the other test is not fully stressing the CPU, so you don't fully know if your o/c is stable or the possible maximum voltages and temps which could occur (even if unlikely).

I would say 65C max running Prime for several hours, <1.2v for longevity. Room temp doesn't make a massive difference, it's more the thermal coupling between the CPU die, heatspreader and cooler.
